A Method for Accurate Analysis of Reserve Capacity Based on Electricity Spot Market

Reserve capacity is essentially important for the safe and stable operation of power systems. In actual operation, the fluctuation of load, the intermittency of new energy, the instability of hydropower inflow, the blocking of section and other factors make it particularly difficult to accurately calculate the reserve capacity, which is especially highlighted in Sichuan Power Grid with a high proportion of hydropower, complex cascade hydraulic relationship in basin and multiple safety constraints. Based on the construction of Sichuan electricity spot market, its application functions are expanded relying on the integrated data resources of the electricity spot market, and an alternative accurate analysis method is proposed on the basis of the declaration and clearing results of the generation side in the spot market and in consideration of hydrologic information constraint and section constraint, so as to automatically calculate the system reserve capacity and its distribution every 15 minutes to provide strong support for the comprehensive mastery of the system reserve in dispatching operation. The function has been successfully deployed in the technical support system of Sichuan electricity spot market, and its effectiveness has been verified by actual operation.
