Numerical electromagnetic simulation of parabolic antenna

摘要

This paper describes the process and the results of electromagnetic simulation of the parabolic reflective dish antenna with the feed. The simulation was carried out using the methods of physical optics method (POM), integral equations method (IeM) and finite element method (FEM). The results were obtained and compared. It was noted, that POM and IEM do not require much time and computational resources. However, this methods do not take into account the backward reflection from the feed element. From the other hand, the full simulation by means of FEM is not effective so the use of symmetry planes is suggested. This leads to the division of the model to four pieces while only one of these pieces is simulated. The other opportunity to make the results more accurate is to change the geometry of the feeding waveguide and the reflecting dish from smooth surfaces to polygons. The system's operating frequency is 2.4 GHz.
