Analysis Methods for Improving Quality of Service Metrics in Flying Ad Hoc Networks

this paper discusses some methods that can be used to improve the quality of service (QoS) metrics for a single source flying ad hoc networks (FANETs). Three scenarios are considered that differ in the presence or absence of one or more relay nodes. For the first scenario, the AL-ARQ method is used to retransmit lost data at the application level of the OSI model, for the second and third scenarios, the routing and selection of the helper node are used. Analytical calculations, simulation and experimental studies were carried out to analyze the effectiveness of the considered methods in FANET. It is concluded that the AL-ARQ method can be applied not only to a network with one source-node, but also with several source-nodes. Also, the use of multi-threaded cooperative relaying based on AL-ARQ is promising.
