Climatic variability of a region depends on various hydro logical parameters like precipitation, evaporation, temperature, etc. In addition to this, the changes in land use-land cover (LULC) patterns can also have an impact on the climate over an area. The present study aims to observe the effect LULC changes in the runoff yield (calculated using soil and water assessment tool), from Wainganga Basin situated in Maharashtra State of Central India. The potential impact of rainfall in the near future of study area has been carried out using rainfall trend analysis along with flood frequency analysis. LULC data was obtained from Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) and rainfall data, during a period of 1913-2013 (101) years was procured from India Meteorological Department (IMD). The transition of land cover to land use is dominating in the recent past as there is considerable reduction in area of surface water resources and increase in fallow land. A separate study was conducted to analyze groundwater stability of the study area using inverse distance weighting interpolation (IDW). The study reveals that, the impact of LULC changes should not be pretermitted as it has a control over the hydro logic responses of an area.
