Renewables have progressed at an unprecedented pace over the past decade and have consistently surpassed expectations, with new records being set each year and an increasing number of countries committing to their respective energy transitions. Much of the advancement has been achieved thanks to effective policies and planning, coupled with ambitious targets. The non-programmable nature of wind power plants leads to several challenging situations for the responsible system operator in the transmission grid and also in the distribution grid. In order to accommodate the installed power which is expected to appear in Dobrogea area, a number of investments have been proposed. The investments consist mainly in new AC lines. This paper analyses the impact in power system by replacing one of the planned AC line for power evacuation from Dobrogea area with a DC line.
