The Centre d'expertise en analyse environnementale du Quebec (CEAEQ) is a branch of the Ministere de l'Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques. Various analytical services are provided by the CEAEQ in the fields of biology; toxicology; microbiology; and organic and inorganic chemistry. Scientific expertise is available for projects from sampling and analysis to interpretation including emergency management, investigation, monitoring and forensics. The laboratory is 17025-ISO accredited and provides scientific and technical expertise in environmental analysis on matrices such as air, soil and water. The experts at the CEAEQ can provide support in these various fields: - Organic and inorganic chemistry analytical services for environmental samples to assist in emergency response, as well as long-term regulatory and environmental program monitoring. - Ecotoxicology expertise to provide scientific insight on the toxicity of a product on exposed organisms. - Four mobile laboratories for onsite monitoring of air, soil, water and stacks. A specialized team is available on a 24/7 basis to deploy and operate these laboratories in response to an environmental emergency. - Accreditation. The CEAEQ is a compliant organism that ensures the quality of analytical services throughout the province of Quebec. Private laboratories must be accredited by our program in order to perform environmental analysis within Quebec. - The CEAEQ is a leader in research and development through its various academic, governmental and social organization partnerships. Interest in air quality monitoring has grown considerably over the last decade and both government authorities and the general population are more informed than ever about the air quality. These new concerns must now be taken into account by municipalities when planning for future development. Air analysis is a specialized domain that requires state-of-the art technology and a specific set of skills and knowledge. The CEAEQ performs analysis of airborne particulate matter, metals, aldehydes, VOCs, PAHs and semi-volatiles like dioxins and furans. These contaminants are sampled on various media such as foams, filters, adsorbent tubes or canisters. As well, resins from stack emission sampling can also be analyzed. This poster shows the different types of air analysis that are performed by the CEAEQ and introduces the latest developments in the speciation of hexavalent chromium in air.
