The WATER9 model predicted 93% decrease in acrolein and 82% decrease in VOC emissions compared to the mass balance approach, which resulted in a significantly lower reportable emissions in 2017 annual air Emission Statement. For the maximum PTE scenario, the WATER9 model predicted acrolein emissions that were 91% lower than the mass balance approach, which is significantly lower compared to the prior reported emissions for years 2009 through 2016, even though the method detection limit for the maximum PTE scenario was the highest. The WATER9 model predicted VOC emissions that were 75% lower than the VOC emissions calculated using the mass balance approach. The facility will continue to use WATER9 for future emission calculations and reporting purposes. The facility plans to modify the model as necessary to calculate maximum PTE for total VOC and acrolein in the future.
