Metalox Technologies LLC has developed a low-cost and high-recovery leach method to extract metals from sulfide mineral concentrates, using sulfuric and nitric acid. The initial digestion time is 20 minutes at relatively low temperature and pressure, the materials of construction are 304 stainless steel, metals recovery is 99%, and the problem of sulfur passivation has been solved without resorting to fine grinding, high temperatures, or the use of dispersants. Metalox Technologies has developed "recipes" that work with concentrates of zinc, copper, and lead-which are the principal sulfide mineral concentrates produced worldwide. Compared to other leach methods, the Metalox process offers advantages.
