Tavorite-structured LiVP04F has been considered as a promising candidate of cathode material for lithium-ion batteries owing to its high working voltage and excellent stability. Herein, tavorite structure LiVP04F has been synthesized with uniform carbon coating. Through controlling the particle size distribution and carbon coating, both electronic conductivity and Li+ diffusion coefficient have been improved significantly. Because of the synergistic effects contributed by the particle size and carbon coating, the as-manufactured LiVP04F shows high discharge capacity (146mAh/g at 0.1C), powerful rate capability (131mAh/g at 10C) and exceptional cyclability (95% capacity retention after 100 cycles at 10C). Thus, the uniform carbon coating LiVP04F has potential practical applications in high-power energy storage system.
