A composite dual-aperture feeding technique for conventional cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) has been proposed to design dual-band antenna using HEM11δ and HEM11Δ modes. These two modes with similar kind of electric field patterns have been excited simultaneously in a CDRA with 7 dBi and 9.4 dBi peak gains respectively. This was achieved at two operating frequency bands showing improved radiation pattern with reduced cross-polarized field levels. This technique should find suitable applications in modern dual-band wireless communications.
