Microwave induced thermal acoustic tomography (MITAT) has the advantages of high contrast and high resolution. In this paper, total-variation compressive sensing (TVCS) method is integrated to MITAT to obtain more accurate image. The proposed approach takes full advantage of the sparsity of the gradient of early breast tumors. In the framework of MITAT, the inverse scattering problem is converted into a total-variation (TV) regularization optimization one. Moreover, the total variation augmented Lagrangian and alternating direction algorithm (TVAL3) is used to find the optimal solution of this problem. Numerical simulation experiments verify the validity and advancement of the proposed approach.
