The recent technological advancements are focusing on developing smart systems to facilitate the subscribers and to improve their lifestyle. The machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence are becoming elementary tools, which are used in the establishment of modern smart systems across the globe. In this context, automatic face detection solutions have been devised for a variety of applications like security, energy efficiency, attendance solutions, etc. The Viola-Jones face classification framework is a remarkable and robust approach. In this background, an FPGA based embedded realization of the Viola-Jones algorithm is achieved. The circuit is synthesized on the Cyclone IV FPGA family. The FPGA pins utilization is discussed. The prototype functionality is successfully tested and results are presented.
