CoopIS 2018 (the 26th CoopIS) takes place in Valetta on the beautiful island of Malta. The CoopIS series of conferences can look back upon a quarter of a century of scientific excellence and industrial success. The longevity of CoopIS demonstrates its continuing success in addressing the key challeng es in the engineering of Cooperative Information Systems, a topic which is as relevant as it ever was. Over the past quarter of a century, the CoopIS conference series has witnessed a plethora of IT trends come and go. Above, and beyond these trends, the CoopIS conference remains committed to the deeper challenge of achieving seamless cooperation of the socio-cyber-physical mix of actors that make up the ecosystem involved in the execution, development, and maintenance of modern day information systems. As in previous years, this year we also were able to produce a high quality conference programme, thanks to the many high-quality submissions. A total of 123 papers were submitted, of which 37 were accepted as regular papers, and 12 as research in progress papers. The authors of the accepted papers originate from many countries and cultures around the world, in keeping with the tradition of the international nature of CoopIS.
