The organic matters contained in the RO concentrate are usually recalcitrant to biological treatment (Zhou, Lim, et al., 2011). Through advanced oxidation treatment, these organics can be mineralized to produce assimilable organic carbon, then it makes it possible to integrate a post biological treatment to reduce the total treatment cost (Volk and Lechevallier, 2002). In this study, a simple treatment scheme, the solar light irradiated rotating advanced oxidation contactor (RAOC) equipped with TiO_2-zeolite composite sheets with coagulation pretreatment, was applied for the treatment of organic matters in RO concentrate, and the energy consumption during the treatment was evaluated.
