Characterization of Fluorescent Dissolved Organic Matter in Landfill Leachate using EEM-PARAFAC

FDOM in the leachate of a landfill site in Japan was deconvoluted into four components including two humic and fulvic-like peaks (C1, C2) and two protein-like components (C3, C4) using EEM-PARAFAC. Multiple regression analysis revealed Cl~-, ORP, Temp., and pH affect on the variation of humic substance-like components (C1 and C2) in the leachate. Further research on DOM characteristic at the molecular level and its binding ability with trace metals are needed.
