SUPERCONDUCTING POWER INDUCTOR HTS PULSED COILS

摘要

Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage fills stored energy, power, and discharge time regimes between capacitors and batteries. This work reports on a HTS pulsed coil, a superconducting power inductor, with fast charge and discharge times that forms an intermittent energy store buffering prime generators and pulsed loads in future electrical distribution systems. Long lifetime and superconductor operation at high energy densities combine to make this HTS modular coil system an attractive element of future micro-grid electrical distribution systems.
