Electrical energy demand is increasing every day by a considerable amount. This demand can be fulfilled with the help of natural resources. Several types of natural resources are available, wind energy conversion system is one having very high potential amongst them. While interfacing the wind energy system directly in to the utility, voltage fluctuations are observed. In this paper the voltage flicker problem due to change in wind speed is investigated and probable solution to this problem is discussed. To remove effect of voltage flicker, the method of injection and control of reactive power is proposed. PSCAD/ EMTDC, a well-known power system software is used for simulation. The simulation results are evaluated on wind energy conversion system based on type IV i.e. permanent magnet synchronous generator to find out system performance.
