Few years back four wheeler performed the same in all the terrain, which led to traction loss, reduced efficiency and more wear on machine parts. The new age technology brought different profiles of engine output, that is normal, economy and sports. These profiles brought better performance, drivability and safety. Now that humans want to wander off into different terrains, drive on icy roads, snow and even take the vehicle to beaches and deserts, there came a requirement to provide the best performance in those cases too. Then came the various profiles for different terrains such as snow, sand and mud. There are lots of work around to attain better drivability, safety and performance in these terrains, we have to tackle the issue through the Engine control unit (ECU) to attain the better control on the torque output.
