In this work, the basic characteristics of a high-birefringence fiber loop mirror (HiBi-FML) interferometer based on Indium-filled side-hole photonic crystal fiber (PCF) when heat is applied to a fraction of this specialty fiber were investigated. With this scheme, a two-section loop interferometer was constituted, coding the sensor information in the phase of the FFT at the frequency that corresponds to the isolated interference created by each HiBi Indium-filled PCF section. Furthermore, a temperature sensor that makes use of those characteristics was demonstrated. The temperature sensitivity is attributed to the temperature sensitive birefringence of the Indium-filled PCF.
