Power generation through renewable energies has had a very strong impact in recent years since thousands of GW of clean energy are being generated annually around the world. Most of this energy is generated by solar photovoltaic modules which transform the solar radiation into electrical energy. The electrical energy that is generated by the photovoltaic modules can be injected into the grid through the use of power electronic interfaces such as centralized inverter systems or dc-ac converters. This article focuses on the comparison of two versions of the three-phase dc-ac converters of the centralized type. The first topology consists of three single-phase inverters, and the second one consists of the three-phase bridge. This comparison consists on the evaluation of reactive power compensation task and the photovoltaic energy injection task, for both converter versions under balanced and unbalanced conditions.
