John was originally licensed in 1974 as WN90WI, later holding WB90WI, WB8YBM, and AG9V. He grew up in Door County, Wisconsin and after finishing law school spent a year in New Hampshire working at 73 Magazine, then moved back to Wisconsin and spent six years with a law firm in Green Bay before moving to Dayton, Ohio to join NCR Corp. In 2010, he relocated with NCR to the Atlanta area, but as of March 2017, he has retired and moved back to Dayton. John spends more of his time tinkering than he does operating, but enjoys getting on HF (mainly CW and digital modes) and VHF (mainly weak signal). He is interested in microwaves and has a 10-GHz transverter, but so far hasn't done much with it. John usually operates several times each year on 6 m and 2 m from his cottage in EN75.
