1. Method to obtain partially hydrolyzed fibers: similar to CNC hydrolysis but under milder conditions; 2. Cellulose lightweight materials can be easily prepared from fiber aqueous dispersions, without special stirring equipment or surfactants, and dried in convection oven; 3. Purely-cellulose materials presented low density (0.16 g/cm~3), high porosity, great absorption of mechanical energy (377 kJ/m~3) and maximum compress strain of 3.9 MPa. 4. Excellent balance between density and mechanical properties. Typical values for cellulose aerogels and foams: density = 0.001 to 0.2 g/cm~3; energy absorption: 48-96 KJ/m~3; maximum compress strain: 10 to 200 kPa.
