The City of Durham Department of Water Management, North Carolina has been enhancing their plant preventive maintenance program over the past 3 years. Key to moving the program forward was first developing and implementing a vision for the plant maintenance program and addressing change management, the "soft stuff". This presentation will focus on the process used to improve the plant maintenance program and how to bring Operations and Maintenance together to set the vision for enhancing the PM program, address change management. Outcomes from attending this session will include the following. Understand a process for developing a shared vision with goals and measurements for implementing improvements. How cultural change can be addressed to ensure the long-term success of improved maintenance practices. How to develop a preventive maintenance master schedule for all the trades that allows for load leveling of resources, efficient use of process shutdowns while meeting the needs of operations.
