A comparative study of two DC-DC converters namely, Cuk and Negative Output Luo Converter (NOLC) is proposed in this work for the reduction of harmonics. Bridge Rectifier with R and RL loads possess harmonics in its input current. Due to the presence of harmonics, there is a reduction in the efficiency, low power factor and lack in power quality of the system. One of the approaches to reduce the input current harmonics is to use a DC-DC converter as load for a diode bridge rectifier. It is clearly shown that NOLC reduces THD (total harmonic distortion) of the input current drawn by a bridge rectifier to a great extent as compared to the conventional cuk converter. The circuit is simulated using MATLAB software and the results are verified.
