It is a known fact that about 70% of the Earth's surface is water, out of which only a mere 3% of it is freshwater that can be utilized for human consumption. Moreover, with the rising population in cities, in the present-day scenario, there is a serious need for saving water. Generally, while filling up the overhead tanks, most of the times water overflows leading to substantial wastage of water. To overcome this problem, in this paper, an IoT and Mobile based Smart Water Level Controlling System [WLCS] has been developed. This effectively reduces the wastage of water by monitoring the level of water in the overhead tank and intimating the user to turn on or turn off the motor using their mobile phone. This system allows the user to control the motor through mobile phone very conveniently avoiding the water wastage due to overflow of the overhead tanks and the inconvenience due to underflow of water in the overhead tanks.
