A Wideband Printed Slot Antenna Using Double Feed and Blended Stub with Reflector for GPR Applications

This paper presents a printed slot antenna fed by microstrip line with double feeding strip, double-blended shape stub and stripline-loaded structure. Moreover, the reflector is added behind the proposed antenna in order to improve the directivity. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are 28 mm × 32 mm × 188.32 mm. The simulation results show that the proposed antenna achieves a very wide impedance bandwidth from 0.288 GHz to over 3 GHz which covers the frequency range for GPR application. The proposed antenna has an average gain about 6 dBi and the maximum gain of 8.85 dBi at 1.9 GHz, respectively. Compared to the existing GPR antennas, the proposed antenna has the small size, wide impedance bandwidth, good impedance matching and good radiation performance.
