Optimal Distance Measurements of Near - Field Antennas for Cellular Frequency Translators

Loop near-field uplink and downlink antennas suitable for cellular frequency translators are proposed. The antenna prototypes, printed on 1.6-mm thick FR4 substrate with compact size of 47 mm x 50 mm, operate at the uplink (858.8 MHz - 917.7 MHz) and downlink (924.3 MHz - 988 MHz) frequency bands with maximum uplink and downlink gains of 7.85 dBi and 3.06 dBi, respectively. It was determined that a distance separation of 40 mm is required to retain the directivity of both uplink and downlink antennas.
