Implementation of an Angle Measuring System with a Dual-Channel Resolver Signal Processing

The resolver is widely used as angle measuring instrument in servo control systems. To enhance measuring precision, a dual-channel resolver is usually used in high accuracy motion control systems, the data of which need to be combined. However, the data combined algorithm might cause nonlinear jumps due to zero errors of the dual-channel, which even worsens the system performance. In order to obtain the precise and linear angle from the resolver, the data combined algorithm for any number pole-pairs and error corrected method that achieves maximum error corrected capability are presented in details. Compared with the traditional method, the proposed approach improves system practical and robust, which is suitable for applications with high precision requirements and harsh environmental conditions such as aerospace and military. An angle measuring system based on AD2S1210 and XMC4500 is designed and implemented, experimental results indicate the angle curve is smooth and the angle value is accurate in this system. So that the practicability and stability are verified.
