Space charge effects in DC-accessories often evolve at interfaces. One of these interfaces in silicone elastomer acessories is the one between the bulk material and the silicone grease used to allow easier assembly. At this interface of silicone elastomer / silicone grease, space charges can evolve. Therefore, a measurement setup based on the LIPP-method was built up in order to investigate this interface. In the case of this work, the silicone grease further assumes the role as coupling material needed for proper acoustical coupling. If interpreting the LIPP-signal at this interface (silicone grease / silicone elastomer), a different outcome compared to usually used silicone oil / silicone elastomer interfaces has been observed. This paper shows how to interpret the LIPP-signal if using silicone grease instead of silicone oil as coupling material.
