An Improved Scheme for Flexible Grounding Fault Suppression in Distribution System Based On IGBT

With the growth of electrical power demanding, distribution networks have been an important part of the security and reliability of power supply to customers. Most of medium voltage distribution networks around the world applied resonant earthed, and single phase grounding fault is the traditional fault type. In order to decrease the damage induced by grounding fault, an improved scheme for flexible grounding fault suppression has been proposed. In this paper, the fault elimination performance of resonant grounding system could be improved because of the improved measurement of line-to-ground capacitance and the high efficiency of arc suppression coil adjusting based on IGBT. The verification of the improved scheme for flexible grounding fault suppression is supported by EMTP-ATP. Results acquired indicated that the improved scheme could eliminate the grounding fault fast and effectively.
