The structure of the arc chamber has a great influence on gas flow during the interrupting process, which is an important technical index to determine the performance of the high voltage circuit breaker. In this paper, to calculate the flow field of the arc chamber, the computational fluid dynamics calculation software Fluent was used. The pressure and velocity were acquired by calculating the flow field of the simulation model during the interruption period. Through analyzing the calculation results, the influence of each parameter on the interrupting ability of the circuit breaker was studied. To research the influence of structure sizes on the flow field, the arc chambers with different nozzle and cylinder were calculated. Based on the findings, the structure size of the arc chamber was designed finally.
