Satellite networks using Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) are considered to supplement the terrestrial network infrastructure in the context of the 5th generation of wireless systems and particularly for IoT applications. An evolution of Narrow-Band IoT based on Turbo-Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) is considered and evaluated. An efficient channel synchronization frame structure based on modified Zadoff-Chu sequences and associated channel estimation algorithms are proposed. Performance evaluation demonstrates the benefits of the proposed approach. This makes Turbo-FSK a serious contender for these application scenarios.
