In this paper, an air-chamber mandrel fiber optical hydrophone (FOH) with fine diameter and high sensitivity is designed. The phase-shifted pressure sensitivity and resonance frequency are investigated by finite element methods (FEM). Furthermore, based on the Michelson interferometer and dualcylinder structure, the experimental sensitivity of -134.65dB is obtained by the fabricated sensor, validating the simulation result of -135.72dB. The proposed FOH can be a competitive candidate in the AUV acoustic sensing applications.
