Low sidelobe levels are necessary for deep space antenna array system. This paper presents an enhanced particle swarm optimization (EPSO) algorithm for a large antenna array whose elements spacing is much larger than the wavelength. The algorithm adds the optimal particle interference operator and a gradient operator. Adding those two operators can make the stagnant particles reactivate and prevent them from falling into the local optimal solution. The large antenna array consists of 34 elements which has a diameter of 12 m, located in an area of 500 m × 900 m. The simulation results show that the The maximum sidelobe level of the array pattern is -12.84 dB.
