A detection method for array antenna element failures is proposed. Compressed sensing is applied to find the solution of array element excitations from measured data. The electric far fields of array antenna are measured at a single fixed location. To obtain adequate and independent data, fields are sampled at multiple frequencies in the frequency band of the array. The requirements of compressed sensing are achieved in a new way. The field measuring is more efficient than existing methods. Numerical results validate the diagnosing performance.
