Evaluation for wireless sensor networks with LT codes considering probabilities of transmission failure

In this paper, we investigate the wireless sensor networks using LT codes by considering the probabilities of transmission failure among the sensor nodes in the networks. A modified scheme that allows the mobile collector to directly collect the data packet of the communicating sensor node beside the rateless packets is proposed. The theoretical analyses of the numbers of total transmissions and survival rateless packets are also provided for the proposed scheme. Finally, computer simulations show that the modified scheme is very effective on improving the decode packet error rate.
