In the paper, two methods for determining selected parameters (i.a. subtransient reactances) of synchronous generator model are presented. These methods are based on the analysis of the waveforms of generator stator (armature) voltages and currents for a two-phase short-circuit. The waveforms were calculated by the finite element method using a two-dimensional field-circuit model of the generator. Calculations of the waveforms for the two-phase short-circuit and determination of the generator model parameters were carried out for conducting and non-conducting slot wedges of the rotor. To determine the parameters, appropriate analytical dependencies between the amplitudes of harmonics of the synchronous generator armature voltages and currents in the steady state were used.
