The aim of this paper is the investigation of the two-layer-liquidsloshing phenomena inside a rigid tank using a new multiphase methoddeveloped based on the meshless MPS method. The MPS method isparticularly suitable for simulating the deformations of two-phaseinterface in multiphase flows. To extend the MPS method to amultiphase system, special interface treatments are applied for theinterface particles, including density smoothing technique, interparticleviscosity model and surface tension model. The capabilities of presentmulti-phase MPS method to treat this two-layer sloshing problem areassessed through comparisons with experimental data in literature, andthe results show that the present method is able to capture thedeformations of two-phase interface at different locations. The pressurefield obtained by present method is smooth and the impact pressure atthe inner walls of liquid tank shows a reasonable agreement withexperiment.
