Concurrent flashover experiments in two parallel arcing horns have been conducted for the clarification of multi-phase faults of transmission lines. In the experiment, we examined influences of line surge impedances on the concurrent flashover. After a flashover in one of arcing horns in transmission lines, the voltage at the other arcing horns decreases. However, the value of the voltage of the arcing horn is greater than 0 because of the line surge impedance. We found that maximum time difference of the flashover between parallel two arcing horns is more than 1 μs. Furthermore, in the case of the maximum time difference, a new type of the flashover processes in the arcing horns was observed. These experiment shows that the influence of the line surge impedance is important.
