Based on the definition of unbound aggregate pavement layer and its performance characteristics, primarily by considering the aggregate mineralogy, particle size distribution, fines content (material passing sieve No. 200 or 0.075 mm) in aggregates, type of fine (plastic or non-plastic), particle shape, surface texture and angularity, degree of compaction, and moisture content, the effects of aggregate properties on the properties of aggregate pavement layers are described in detail in this paper. It can be concluded that aggregate mineralogy will affect the physical and chemical characteristics. The gradation of aggregate, fines content, and particle size affect the resilient modulus and permeability, degree of density, and friction angle in addition to the shear strength. In particular, the effect of moisture content on the resilient modulus is more serious.
