Sketch-Based Shadow Image Retrieval for Digital Library

摘要

A user-drawn sketch query image can be a useful tool in a retrieval system or a digital library because it is intuitive and beyond language, age, or culture. We demonstrate the sketch drawing system guided by shadow sketches from a sketch database. When a user draws a sketch query, our system calculates the similarity between the query and the database sketches, predicts the user's intention, and offers sketch images in the form of guiding shadows on the canvas. With our system, unskillful drawers can deliver their intentions and meanings effectively; thus, the system is expected to be utilized in various retrieval systems, such as digital libraries.
