1 We have developed a new test method to measure the microclimate between the simulated human skin and textiles using sweating guarded hotplate with a specially designed device including a sensor to measure temperature and relative humidity. 2 In order to simulate the moisturized human skin, the non-porous hydrophilic breathable membrane with 45 + 5 of hydration value was used instead of cellophane membrane. 3 We have measured the microclimate for cotton, nylon, nylon treated with hyaluronic acid, viscose rayon and double layered knit fabrics with different composition of skin and face sides in order to quantify the moisture management capability. The results show that the water vapor resistance including air layer is lower while relative humidity is higher for fabrics with good moisturizing effect. 4 This study provides better understanding of the moisture management mechanism of textiles as well as the quantification of moisturizing effect.
