For projects involving a wind conversion system, it is required to estimate wind speed at various elevations a so that to predict it at various turbine hub heights, without installing any tall tower, or more expensive devices. In this context, this study gives a general view on the mainly used extrapolation laws in the literature to estimate the vertical wind profile. The wind speed data in hourly time series format over the year 2016 at Agadir are statistically analyzed and extrapolated at heights of 50 m, 80 m and 100 m using the power law. The available wind power density is established at the same heights. We note that the wind speed and the available wind power density increase with height and become more important above 50 m, especially in April. That can be a good solution for water pumping at agriculture farms, rural electrification or for sea water desalination.
