This paper presents the performance improvement of rectangular waveguide to coaxial adapter of horn antenna for radar system at L-band frequency by using metamaterial structure based on a wire medium. The main point is to utilize a split ring resonator (SRR) as bandpass filter and the wire medium metamaterial placed on the waveguide's aperture for gain increment. This idea has been insisted by CST simulation software. We found that this proposed SRR can improve the desired resonant frequency at 1.3 GHz and provided the narrower bandwidth, whereas, the wire medium structure can increase the gain around 3dB, approximately.
