The concept of retroreflectors based on the coordinate transformation is presented to enhance radar cross section for radar systems. A retroreflector mimicking a conventional retroreflector of a cylindrical dielectric embedded in a concave metal is designed with an full-tensor anisotropic materials based on the transformation electromagnetics. In order to validate the concept and design of the retroreflector, circuit simulations are carried out based on the full-tensor equivalent circuit model. Simulation results illuminating the semicylindrical retroreflector with a Gaussian beam shows retroreflection operation and the validity of the concept and design method are confirmed.
