Use of Horizontally Curved PrecastConcrete U-Girders for RampConstruction

Current traffic and expansion of the Orlando International Airport made improved access atthe existing SR 417 interchange a high priority. A unique aspect of the SR 417 interchange modificationswas the use of horizontally curved, precast concrete U-girders for three of the ramp bridges. This was thefirst use of these girders in Florida, and the first standard delivery project in the United States toincorporate curved precast concrete U-girders as the primary design.
