Based on the research of large caliber modular charge howitzer and electrothermal-chemical(ETC) launch technology, the application advantages and prospects of ETC launchtechnology in a 155mm modular charge howitzer are discussed from the perspective of thetechnology development and actual applications, respectively. The analysis and discussionresults show that the ETC launch technology will effectively improve the chambercombustion stability and interior ballistics consistency of the modular charge howitzer. Italso will enhance the whole operational effectiveness including both firing range andaccuracy. The ETC launch technology is an important development route for the futuremodular charge howitzer.
