1. Nitric acid tests were performed on 3 different high Phosphorus Nickel coated steel samples. 2. Directly after preparation the samples P1, P2 and P3 showed different discoloration in the nitric acid test and in electrochemical measurements the samples behaved different. 3. The samples were investigated by X-Ray and 3D laser microscope before and after nitric acid test. 4. Results of 3D laser microscopy, X-Ray and electrochemical measurements could be correlated with visual appearance after nitric acid test.
