In this paper, a new small long-cycle PWR core for boron-free operation is designed with new particle type burnable poisons (BP) and its core performance is analyzed. In particular, the BP rods where BISO particles having B_4C kernel are randomly distributed in SiC matrix are used to effectively reduce the excess reactivity and axial zonings of BP rods are devised to suppress axial power peaking resulted from control banks' insertion. From the analysis results, it is shown that the core can be operated without soluble boron over 4.3 EFPYs and it has a reasonable range of axial offset and small axial offset over the cycle.
