A multi-element distribution model of rare earth metal (REs) and actinides drawdown processes using liquid Bi-Li with molten salt is developed. The model is based on the fundamental electrochemical equations and thermodynamics properties of the elements in molten salt and liquid metal. It can be applied to calculate the distributions of multiple actinides and REs between liquid Bi and molten LiCl-KCl salt (58 mol% LiCl) at the equilibrium state. The model indicates that the final distributions of actinides and REs are function of their initial concentrations in the salt, the lithium concentration in liquid Bi, the operating temperature, the presence of other elements and the salt I liquid metal amount. The comparisons between the modeling results with the experimental results of a five-element system indicate that the model has a high accuracy and can be applied to some other molten salt/liquid metal systems such as LiCl-KCl / Cd systems and fluoride salt/Bi systems.
